Custom software engineering
Long-lived desktop and web applications — C++/Qt, C#/.NET, ASP.NET Core and Blazor, Python. Software that ships to a customer, gets installed on their machines, and is still maintained years later.

Smooth-Soft is an independent software engineering practice. We build the desktop, web and embedded-adjacent software that sits between physical hardware and the people who need to read it — cameras, motion capture rigs, force platforms, IMUs, industrial controllers and medical scanners.
What we do
We are a small team, so we stay in the areas where twenty years of practice actually compounds.
Long-lived desktop and web applications — C++/Qt, C#/.NET, ASP.NET Core and Blazor, Python. Software that ships to a customer, gets installed on their machines, and is still maintained years later.
Getting real hardware to talk: industrial cameras, optical motion capture, BLE inertial boards, force and pressure platforms, foot switches, laser trackers, PLCs over industrial fieldbus protocols. Acquisition, synchronisation, calibration and a usable interface on top.
Marker tracking, pose estimation, camera calibration, OCR, and 3D geometry processing — meshes, scans, DICOM volumes and the pipelines that turn them into something manufacturable.
How we build
Not a list of everything we have ever touched — the tools we reach for repeatedly, because they hold up under maintenance.
C++17/20, Qt, CMake, VTK, OpenCV. Windows-first, cross-platform where it earns its keep.
C# / .NET, ASP.NET Core, Blazor, REST and WebSocket APIs, Keycloak for identity, PostgreSQL.
Python, OpenCV, TensorFlow Lite and MediaPipe, NumPy, DICOM and mesh toolchains.
Industrial camera SDKs, optical motion capture, Bluetooth Low Energy, serial and USB HID, industrial fieldbus.
Signed Windows installers, versioned releases, CI pipelines, and documentation written for the person who inherits it.
On-premise and offline by default. Cloud when the problem genuinely needs it — not as a habit.
Products
After years of building bespoke systems for clients, we are turning the parts that kept recurring into products under our own name.
A trusted environment for programming exams, with authorship and process analytics for educators. Developed with, and tested in, real university classrooms.
In development
Real-time acquisition and visualisation of optical, inertial and force-platform tracking data — one live dashboard per device, one shared data format across all of them.
In development
Browser-based design for custom orthopaedic devices, and multi-tenant tracking of physical items through production workflows.
In development
Names and dedicated product sites will be announced once the marks are registered. Ask to be told when they launch →
About
The people behind Smooth-Soft have been building production software for more than twenty years — in industrial automation, medical device software, machine vision and higher education.
We are specialists in the technical and medical field, most of us holding doctorates. Our work sits where engineering meets medicine: motion analysis, clinical measurement, orthopaedic device design, and the instrumentation around them. That background is why we treat a calibration error as a correctness bug rather than a tuning detail — we would rather spend an extra week getting a measurement right than ship something that produces a confident wrong number.
Much of that work has been alongside clinicians, researchers and manufacturing engineers, and it shapes what we expect of our own software: that it is installed on machines we do not control, runs without an internet connection, and is still supportable in five years.
We collaborate with academic institutions in Croatia, and several of our systems started as research tools before becoming products.
